Food Drive (March 6-April 3, 2022)

"The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor." Proverbs 22:9

Our goal is to collect/donate 10,000 pounds of food (1 can/item = 1 pound; $1=5 pounds) and by doing so we will be able to feed 1,500 families in Ventura County.

The Simi and Shoreline Churches are partnering with Food Share Ventura County to collect food/dollars to help feed families in Ventura County.

Food Share Ventura County is a food bank that serves over 100 food pantries in Piru, Fillmore, Ojai, Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Camarillo, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, and all of East County. Food pantries distribute the food locally to those in need. Families do not need anything to receive food, they simply just show up. Food Share Ventura County also assists local groups in providing hot meals and donates to local diaper banks.

The Top 5 Most Needed Food Items (Note: Expired food (up to one year) is accepted:

Canned protein (tuna, chicken, salmon)
Cereal (non-sugar types)
Beans (dry and canned)
Rice (in 1lb-2lb bags or mixes)
Peanut butter

**Please avoid donating damaged open/items as Food Share will not accept them.

Food will be collected beginning Sunday, March 6, 2022, and ending Sunday, March 27, 2022. Drop-off locations will be at both services. Just look for the big YELLOW CAN. Financial donations are also accepted. Prefer to give online? Click HERE! or text VCStrong (no spaces) to 41444. For every $1 collected, Food Share can purchase five pounds of food because they are able to buy in bulk.
